How to choose a bathroom mirror

  • Size: match the mirror roughly to the width of your basin or vanity unit.
  • Shape: arched, oval and round mirrors soften straight lines, while rectangular mirrors are practical and versatile.
  • Lighting: LED mirrors give even light for grooming. Look for demisters, dimming and adjustable colour temperature.
  • Safety: check the IP rating for your bathroom position, and have mains-connected mirrors installed by a registered electrician.

Pair it with your vanity

A mirror and vanity unit work as a pair. Our vanity unit buyer's guide helps you choose the base, and our small bathroom ideas show how mirrors can make a compact room feel larger.

Bathroom mirror FAQs

Do LED bathroom mirrors need an electrician?

If the mirror is connected to the mains, yes. A registered electrician should install it so it is safe and meets the regulations.

What is a demister pad?

A demister pad gently warms the glass so it stays clear of steam after a hot shower.

How big should my bathroom mirror be?

As a guide, about the width of your basin or vanity unit. In larger rooms, a mirror can span the whole unit.
